How To Download FaceTime
Movie talk is by far the best way to communicate with friends and family far away from you, and Apple's FaceTime is one of the best movie talk implements. There's just something about the idea of being able to see the person you're talking to when making a call, that excites people. (Even better, the fresh FaceTime Audio feature that lets you make calls without using your monthly minutes.)
Like most Apple services, FaceTime works on almost all Apple devices.
While it debuted on the iPhone Four, you can now FaceTime with anyone with an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or Mac (the Apple TV and Apple Observe don't support FaceTime right now, but you never know about the future).
If you want to commence movie talking, make sure you've got FaceTime by finding out where you can it.
Download FaceTime For iOS
You don't need to download a FaceTime app for iOS: it comes pre-installed on every iOS device running iOS five or higher. If your device is running iOS five or higher and the FaceTime app isn't present, your device can't use it (for example, it might not have a user-facing camera). Apple doesn't suggest the app on devices that can't use it.
There are lots of other movie talking apps for the iOS, like Skype and Tango. If you want to movie talk with someone who has a device that doesn't run FaceTime, you'll need to use these.
Download FaceTime For Mac OS
FaceTime comes pre-installed with latest versions of Mac OS X (or, as it's now called, macOS), so if your software is up to date, you should already have the program.
If not, you can download FaceTime from the Mac App Store. To use the Mac App Store, you must be running Mac OS X Ten.6 or higher. If you have that OS, the Mac App Store is available in either your dock or via the built-in App Store program.
Go after this link directly to FaceTime at the Mac App Store. Click the Buy button to purchase the FaceTime software using your Apple ID (it's US$0.99) and install it on your Mac.
With the desktop version of FaceTime, you can make FaceTime calls to other Macs running the software, as well as iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches running it.
Download FaceTime For Android
Android users may be anxious to use FaceTime, too, but I've got bad news: there's no FaceTime for Android. But the news actually isn't all bad, as we'll see.
There are a number of movie talk apps for Android, but none are Apple's FaceTime and none of them work with FaceTime. You can find apps that claim to be FaceTime for Android in the Google Play store, but they're not telling the truth. FaceTime only comes from Apple and Apple hasn't released the software for Android.
But just because there's no FaceTime doesn't mean that Android users can't movie talk. In fact, there are tons of Android apps that let users see each other while they talk like Tango, Skype, WhatsApp, and more. Get your friends and family to download one of these apps and you'll be ready to talk no matter your smartphone platform.
Download FaceTime For Windows
Unluckily for Windows users, the news is the same as for Android. There's no official FaceTime app for desktop or mobile Windows. This means you won't be able to movie talk from your Windows device to an iOS or Mac user via FaceTime.
But, just like Android, there are lots of other movie talk devices that run on Windows and that also run on iOS and Mac. Again, just make sure all the people you want to talk to are using the same program and you'll be ready to talk.
